DAY 0

Current Weight: 232.1

Well, tomorrow is the official start of my quest to loose weight and get back into shape!

Today’s Prep:

I went to the store and bought boneless skinless chicken breast that I plan to grill for lunches and pull some fresh herbs and veggies out of the garden to go with it. I also bought quite a bit of frozen veggies (that I cant grow here, or cant grow this time of year) that will be prepared as snacks.

Last night I went out with some friends and ended up practicing Jiu Jitsu. I haven’t done that in a long time and it helped me realize that I am nowhere near the shape that I used to be. I really want to get back into it and this will be a great motivator for me!

Well… Here we go!

One Mans Weight Loss Reboot

My career has gotten in my way again. I have been on the road more than I have been home and I have been failing to meet my goals! So I have decided to reboot my weight loss program and goals!

New Goals

  • Drop to less than 200lbs (currently 235)
  • Drop to a 32 inch waist  (currently 36)
  • Be able to run 5 miles non-stop
  • Eliminate fast food

New Program

With the amount of traveling and work I have been doing lately I have to come up with a new program for weight loss. I am going to have to eat far better (eating on the road always seems to go poorly for me). I just bought P90X and plan to use this in a modified manner!

My exact program will be rather fluid. Running will be the base of it, with some modified P90X thrown in and weight training when possible!

I will be starting this new program on Monday! I am excited and hope that I can find the dedication needed to meet my goals!

Exercise

01/15/2011

2 miles – 17:52

I killed my best two mile time today by over a minute! I ran it in 17:52! The first mile I did not feel any burn in my lung at all, second mile was a little difficult but felt better than yesterday!

The run down!

Total: 17:52 (PR)
1st m: 8:11 (PR)
2nd m: 9:41
Pace: 8:56/m (pr)

On the last 200 yards of the run I looked at the clock and realized I could finish in under 18 minutes if I push it hard. So I ran the hardest I have in a long time and finished with 8 seconds to spare! I feel good now!

2 Miles – 18:54

Set a personal best (since I stopped working out years and years ago) today! I ran 2 miles in 18:54. Today I decided to really push the first mile and see how that would affect my time. It dropped the first mile a bit and slowed the second mile a bit! I have decided to track the splits from now on!

Total: 18:54
1st M: 8:34.4
2nd M: 10:22.1
Pace: 9:27/m
So a personal best, but not a great second mile! If I continue to push the first mile, I will be able to continue that pace further and further. By the end of January I want to have a pace less than 9:10/m!

Add that to the list of goals for me!

Exercise

01/12/2011

2 Miles – 19:21

This was the first time I have ran 2 miles in a while. It seems the working out I did on the ship helped me maintain my average pace!

Per Mile Pace: 9:41

and…. I’m back!

Well, if I have any readers left I would be surprised but if there are any of you here is what has happened over the past few months.

Since my last post where I was on the road a lot covering national news, my life has not slowed down. I have been working even more on the road. I spent 45 days on the Allure of the Seas cruise ship and then 30 days on the Disney Dream cruise ship. While aboard these ships I ate and drank poorly, but did still manage to run and work out from time to time, so I didn’t gain any weight.

I am now back home for a while at least and now in the new year I have set some new goals. Here they are:

Run a 5k in April with a 8 minute mile average
Weigh less than 200lbs by September

Earthquakes, war, tar balls and me.

Well, it has been quite a while since I updated this blog. As some of my readers know I work in the TV industry as a cameraman. One of my biggest clients is ABC News and they send me to many of the worlds biggest breaking news stories.

2 earthquakes, 1 war and 1 massive oil spill later I am back in the country and back on my weight loss program. After living on MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) for nearly a month and then eating what ever I could find I am back to eating healthy.

Last night I went fishing and caught a nice snapper that will be dinner tonight! Tomorrow I work at 4am, so I will ride my bike when I get home.

My weight is steady at about 225lbs. I hope to change that soon!
