Fresh Broccoli From the Garden

So I was walking around my garden today and I noticed that a lot of the broccoli was ready to be harvest. I went to the garden shed and grabbed a pair of cutters and went to town on the broccoli.

I had full intentions of taking the fresh cut greens in and steaming them and adding some lettuce, but I just couldn’t wait, and as I was doing some more work around the garden I just started to eat the broccoli raw.

To my surprise it was quite good. I ate at least a bowl full while working in the garden. Not only was I worn out from the work, but I was full as well! What a bonus!

Day 4

Today was a challenge for me. I woke up a little later than I wanted to 9:30ish and was not hungry at all. Come lunchtime I was a bit hungry so I had a burrito and a salad. Maybe I should not have had the burrito, but if I deprive myself completely this early on I will never be able to stick to the plan.

So for dinner I am going to make a fresh mushroom tortellini to make up for lunch. I will eat that and a salad and drink a lot of water!

I am pretty much giving up on this Sunday! It has always been planned to be my rest/cheat day, but this Sunday is the Superbowl and I will be at my friends house to watch it. I know that there will be tons of bad, but delicious food there and lots of beer!

I will try to avoid the food as much as possible and limit my beer intake! We will see how that works!

Day 3 Lunch

Didn’t wake up on time for a true breakfast so I decided to move lunch up a little bit. After running 2 miles and showering I was quite hungry, so I steamed up some vegetables!

This is my 3rd day in a row that I have been able to avoid fast food, my old go-to lunch! While I haven’t had anything to exciting for lunch yet, it has been far healthier!

Day 1 – Lunch

Lunch time came fast today! After running earlier and trying to relax and stretch my muscles out it was noon before I knew it!

For lunch I am eating exactly what I planned.

South Western Style Rice and Steamed Veggies

Less than 10g of fat! Far better than a McDonalds Big Mac and Fries with a Coke!

Day 1 – Breakfast

I woke up today at 9am started to shake the cob webs off. Once I was awake and dressed I prepared my first breakfast of my weight loss journey!

It is a VERY light breakfast. I have never been a breakfast eater but I know that if you want to stimulate your metabolism you have to eat small amounts frequently! So here it is:

Half a cinnamon bagel and a glass of skim milk!

And so it starts!

Diet Plan – Week 1

By Dan

As stated in the Changing My Diet post, my biggest diet issue is eating a lot of fast food for lunches. The first thing I plan to change in my diet is to virtually eliminate fast food from my diet (I would like to do it completely, but due to my career, that will be impossible, but I can eat much smarter when forced into fast food).

I have found a few meals available at the grocery store that are simple to make (just toss them in the microwave) and quite healthy. They are basically steamed vegetables that have been seasoned and sometimes include rice. I have eaten these meals before and enjoyed them.

This week the big change will be to eliminate fast food and replace it with steamed vegetable meals. I will also pay much closer attention to what else I am eating. I will track what I eat this week and in week 2 start to make adjustments to the rest of my day!

Changing My Diet

For most of my life fast food has been there. I am a big fan of quick burgers and fries to go. Now that my body is no longer a fan, I am going to have to all but eliminate fast food.

I am not looking forward to the first month or two of this plan. It is not uncommon for me to have a fast food lunch 3 or 4 times a week. I love Big Macs and Chalupas. I cant get enough of them!

Another problem I am going to run into is eating on the job. As a TV audio engineer while on set it is often eat what you can when you can, and more often than not that is fast food. Up until now, that was not a problem, infact I liked it. But now, I am going to have to find an alternative!

My Diet Outside Fast Food

My wife is a good cook. She makes a wide variety of delicious meals for dinner almost every night, and they are almost all healthy. The only problem I have is I tend to eat to much of it. Slowing down and only eating a small amount should not be a problem there!

Well, 3 days to go until the official start! I am looking forward to the results, but not the struggle!
