Earthquakes, war, tar balls and me.

Well, it has been quite a while since I updated this blog. As some of my readers know I work in the TV industry as a cameraman. One of my biggest clients is ABC News and they send me to many of the worlds biggest breaking news stories.

2 earthquakes, 1 war and 1 massive oil spill later I am back in the country and back on my weight loss program. After living on MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) for nearly a month and then eating what ever I could find I am back to eating healthy.

Last night I went fishing and caught a nice snapper that will be dinner tonight! Tomorrow I work at 4am, so I will ride my bike when I get home.

My weight is steady at about 225lbs. I hope to change that soon!

Day 15 – A Set Back

By Dan

For the past 7 days I have been working very long days. Disney hired me to work what they call a “Press Event”. This is when they are announcing a new program/ride/initiative and they invite press from all over the world to Disney World.

Normally work should not get in the way of a weight loss program but this type of job does. I have to drive 1.5 hours each direction and on top of that my shortest day at work was 11 hours, that means I was out of the house for 14 hours on my shortest day, with the average day being 18.

On our assignment board somebody put a quote “Sleep is for the weak” and then somebody changed the quote to say “No sleep this week”. And that was very true.

Sadly I did not get to run this week at all. I did however put quite a few miles on my shoes while walking around the park. My weight has not changed, but that is good news because for the last week my diet has been “Eat what you can when you can”!

So, tomorrow I have to leave for work at 3:30am, but I will be home by 1pm. I am going to get out on the road and try to keep my running times up!

I hope it works out!

Week 1 Review

Published: February 8th, 2010

Weight Loss

Starting Weight: 225lbs
Ending Weight: 224lbs

So I only lost 1 pound this week, but it is a start in the right direction! I think that as I get into better cardio shape I will be burring more fat with each workout and start to drop 2 or 3 pounds a week! At least that is what I hope for!

Exercise

Distance Ran: 6 miles
Distance Biked: 0

So I didn’t get on the bike this week as planned. My legs just were not up to it after running. They get sore pretty easy right now and run low on energy after a 2-mile run. I hope to be able to ride some this week. All depends on work and my legs! We will see!

Diet

This week I did very well avoiding the fast food, which was my main goal for the week. I was able to replace all my lunches with a healthy alternative and didn’t over eat any of it.

Where I struggled was on Saturday night and Super Bowl Sunday. Saturday I went out for a night on the town and had a nice Prime Rib for dinner with 2 beers! It was so good! Sunday I had a few peaces of pizza and 1 beer. So not bad at all compared to other days it was a GREAT week!

My Goals

By Dan
Published: February 5th, 2010

I realized today that I have not really set any goals and goals are rather important to staying on track. So I decided I will make some goals!

Weight:
Current: 225lbs
Long Term Goal: 185lbs
Short Term Goal: 200lbs

Measurement (belly at its widest point)

Current: 40”
Long Term Goal: 30”
Short Term Goal: 36”

Running (average mile time)

Current: 10.5 minutes
Long Term Goal: 7 minutes
Short Term Goal: 9 minutes

I don’t really have a time frame set for my long-term goals. They are just the numbers I want to reach in time. I would guess it will take about a year to a year and half to reach these goals if I am aggressive!

Short-term goals are set on a 3 month time frame. I hope to make all of them, and I am making them challenging intentionally to keep me working hard!

Official Launch of OneMansWeightLoss.net

By Dan
Published: February 1st, 2010

It is February 1st, the day I decided to officially begin my journey to loose weight and get back into shape. Today will be the first day that I change my diet and the day that I start to exercise again!

Today’s Plan

Breakfast

Half a bagel and a glass of skim milk.

I am not much of a breakfast eater, but when trying to stimulate your metabolism it is important to eat small amounts through out the day, so I shall start with a very small breakfast first thing in the morning.

Lunch

South Western style steamed vegetables and rice. This meal has only about 8 grams of fat and is quite tasty. Lunch will be my biggest challenge going forward as it has always been in the past.

Afternoon Snack

Eggbeater omelet. It will be a small omelet, only eggbeaters nothing added. About equal to two egg whites.

Dinner

Un sure, the wife plans dinner and it is normally fairly healthy. I will update with info about dinner when I find out what it will be!

Exercise

Early afternoon 2 mile jog. Going to take it fairly easy and not try to push to hard. Just want to get started.

Early evening. 5 mile bike ride with the wife. Again, not pushing to hard, just getting started!

Good luck to me!

My Weight Loss Journey

It is 4 days before the official launch of this blog and I am sitting here with great anticipation of what’s to come. For the past 2 years I have been trying to get back into shape, but most attempts were either half hearted or I lost my motivation rather quickly.

So now I have started this blog as a way to not only track my progress, but to also motivate me. The internet has always been a hobby of mine and now I have a reason to build a website and this gives me actual content to put on the site.

So, what have I done today to help me loose weight? Well, I started this blog! That is step one in this one mans weight loss journey!
